Bhutan Hardware Association

The Bhutan Hardware Association (BHA) has formally received a communication from the Bhutan Standards Bureau (BSB) requesting the nomination of a representative to serve on the newly constituted Appeals Committee.

The Appeals Committee is being established in line with the requirements of ISO/IEC 17065:2012, which outlines international standards for product certification bodies, and under the provisions of the Bhutan Standards Act 2010. The committee is intended to provide an independent mechanism for reviewing appeals related to certification decisions, thereby strengthening transparency, accountability, and fairness within the certification system.

While the framework for the Appeals Committee has been in place, it had not been activated previously due to the absence of formal appeals. However, following recent cases received by BSB, the committee is now being operationalized.

In response to the request, the Bhutan Hardware Association has nominated its General Secretary, Mr. Tenzin Namgay, to represent the association as a member of the Appeals Committee. The nomination reflects BHA’s continued commitment to supporting robust governance systems and ensuring fair representation of industry stakeholders in regulatory processes.

The Bhutan Hardware Association welcomed this development, noting that the establishment of the Appeals Committee is a significant step toward strengthening quality assurance mechanisms and enhancing trust in national certification systems.

BHA reaffirmed its commitment to continued collaboration with the Bhutan Standards Bureau in promoting compliance, improving product quality standards, and fostering fair trade practices within Bhutan’s construction and hardware sector.
